Nu.I cocktail show @ MTL Fashion Week.
The clothing at the NU.I invite only cocktail show was hot. We over heard alot of women saying "I could rock that!" The blue Navajo print was strong and very much on trend. Designer Vickie Joseph has an understanding of what women who are fierce, strong and current want. The pink and white fringe was absolutely gorgeous and fun. The floral print was sweet and fit perfectly with the leopard print. Be sure to check out her boutique located at 270 Samson boul. W #207, Laval, QC.

Montreal Fashion Week SP/SM 2012 starts tomorrow!!!
Just so you all know, we've compiled a list of the top 3 designers that we are very excited about seeing during the 21st edition of the Montreal Fashion Week!!!
We will be there bringing you all the goods you need to be well prepared for next spring, fresh off the cat walk!

Melissa has a university degree from l’École Supérieure de Mode de Montréal at UQAM in Montréal where Mélissa was awarded a grant from La Fondation Mode Montréal. It was while studying in Paris with l’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs that she presented her first fashion show at the Paul Ricard Foundation for contemporary art.

Melissa's last collection blew our minds. It was our favorite collection during the entirety of fashion week in Montreal.

Dimitri Chris graduated from the International Academy of Design in 1999. After that he joined a large manufacturer before going to work for a high-end clothing boutique to better acquaint himself with a clientele seeking quality fashions and new trends. He also went back to his sketchbooks, which allowed him to hone his technical skills and knowledge. On several occasions, he traveled throughout Europe, researching trends and analyzing markets, as well as to Asia to oversee production.
After more than a decade as a designer, he launched his first ready-to-wear collection in 2009. Rounding out the offering of unique custom fashions from his showroom, these creations are available at selected retailers across Canada and Europe.

Fall is here. Sept is going to be crazy!
So, Montreal Fashion Week is almost here! We will be trying to get into as many shows as possible.
In other big news. Le Smoking MTL is moving to Toronto.

Samuel Dong, ruffles galore!

Samuel Dong is a New York designer who showed for the first time @ MTL Fashion Week 2011. Traditionally, Dong makes things for a more mature clientele. With this "Fantasy" collection, we find Dong tries to reach out to a younger crowd, mixing and matching prints and textures. This collection was more theatrical, more edgy and stronger then anything we've seen from him in the past. This could be considered a major improvement for Dong.

DENIS GAGNON, lovely, fun and technically interesting.
We loved the choice of colours and textures from fake furs to folded chiffon, to intricate weavings of cotton. It had a sort of futuristic cotton candy feel to it. Denis recently started doing business in the Asian markets. Hopefully this means we will be seeing more creations like these! Uninhibited, free and so much fun!
There was also alot of black pieces which we really liked too! But our coup de coeur was the more playful choices of colour combinations! Way to go Denis, oh and you inspire us too!!!!

Ying Gao & Karl Latraverse by Trusst
There was an intent of structure that was so strong in this collab. collection that it changed the mood of the crowd from light and whimsical to serious and attentive. Dark hues and leather accessories set a harsh tone, one we felt suggested seriousness of creation. We loved the way the models turned camera's onto the audience and gave us all a feeling we were being watched by them. Switching the concept around a little and keeping things clear, Ying Gao & Karl Latraverse really set a standard for upcoming shows.
