Derek Lam SPR 2011 For the modern woman in us all.

Derek hit the nail on the head with this spring collection. His play with denim at the beggining was beautifully executed. The collection has a hint of retro but is exactly in touch with what is hot for Spring 2011. The cocktail dresses are cut to perfection with interesting lines. Very simple but very fresh.

Magic indeed Manish Arora Fall 2011

Manish first showed his collection in Dheli, it's no wonder he has made it to Paris. This man has an incredible vision. The color combinations in the fabrics and his choices in playing with shapes and forms, dragging magic into fantasy and then back into reality. It seems like there is reference to modern Japanese fabrics mixed in with acid flashback hallucinations and a late 70's  aesthetic. His collection really blows all other competition away. The feeling is edgy with a sense of the future.

Samuel Dong, ruffles galore!

This outfit with the aqua gloves and the space like leggings feels futuristic and sci-fi.

 

    Samuel Dong is a New York designer who showed for the first time @ MTL Fashion Week 2011. Traditionally, Dong makes things for a more mature clientele. With this "Fantasy" collection, we find Dong tries to reach out to a younger crowd, mixing and matching prints and textures. This collection was more theatrical, more edgy and stronger then anything we've seen from him in the past. This could be considered a major improvement for Dong.
